Herbal Remedies for Bloating

We have seen in the previous article some basic facts about bloating like what causes bloating, foods to avoid and a list of home remedies for treating bloating. After trying those remedies, if you have not got a relief, it means that the bloating problem has reached an acute stage. In such a situation, you can try the following herbal remedies:

Dandelion

Dandelion, with scientific name of Taraxacum officinale and tamil name of Seemai Kaatu Mullangi is a great herb for curing bloating problem. The root of the dandelion is a good medicine for curing bloating problem. If you do not want to consume the bitter root, you can make tea out of it and consume.

Garlic

Garlic is a great medicine that has been used as a remedy for gastric problems since ancient times. Since its difficult to eat raw garlic, either roast the garlic and eat. Else, take about five pieces of garlic and boil them in a cup of milk. Consume the milk and the garlic together.

Ginger and lemon juice

Take half piece of lemon and squeeze it juice. Do not add water. Take a slice of ginger and extract its juice. Mix the ginger juice with lemon juice. Consume this about half an hour before meals. This will prevent from you from getting bloated.

Spices as herbal remedies

You can prepare a mixture of powder from dried ginger, black pepper and cumin seeds. You can consume the powder along with water half an hour before consuming food. This acts as a good remedy for bloating.

Herbs as Stress Busters

Stress is one of the major reasons for the cause of bloating. Try some stress busters like orange, peppermint, basil, etc. You can also get a massage with essential oil.

Warm water with lemon

Take some warm water and mix lemon juice in it. Take it daily in the morning. This is a great herbal remedy for bloating.

Fennel water

Fennel water is a great home remedy. Take one or two tea spoons of fennel seeds and soak them in a liter of water at night before going to sleep. When you get up in the morning, consume the water. This is a very powerful natural remedy for treating bloating and other stomach related ailments.

Triphala

Triphala is a secret medicine that is considered a gift of nature for curing all digestive related disorders. This is a highly recommended medicine for getting relieved of bloating. This is nothing but a mixture of dried ginger, black pepper and long pepper. Take equal quantity of each of the three and powder them. Store the mixture in a closed container. Take about one spoon of the powder daily before going to sleep. This is also available in all herbal stores.

Abdominal Breathing

Deep abdominal breathing is a great remedy for bloating. It increases the flow of blood in the stomach and related areas and enhances digestion. Do this for about 5 minutes daily. You would see a marked improvement in digestion.

Chamomile

Chamomile is a great herb for treating bloating problem. Take a spoon of dried chamomile powder on a daily basis. This enhances digestion and prevents bloating to be formed.

Take protein rich food

Protein rich food is good for curing bloating problems. Thsese include apple, almonds, yogurt, egg white, etc.

Take Potassium rich foods

Potassium helps maintain optimal fluid balance in the body. Such foods include bananas, tomatoes, spinach, asparagus, nuts, etc.

Turmeric

Turmeric is a good medicine for curing bloating problems.

Clove

Chew one or two pieces of raw clove on a daily basis. This acts as a good remedy for bloating problems.
